Dr. Lemmietta McNeilly serves as the Chief Staff Officer for Speech-Language Pathology at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is responsible for Speech-Language Pathology Practices, Governmental Affairs and Public Policy, International Programs and Special Interest Groups. She is an ASHA Fellow, a Distinguished Scholar and Fellow of the National Academy of Practice, and a Fellow of the American Society of Association Executives.


Her resume includes numerous publications and presentations regarding speech-language pathology and academic preparation across the globe. She has expertise empowering leaders regarding rehabilitation, genomics for health care professionals, interprofessional education and collaborative practice, social determinants of health, patient safety, effective utilization of speech-language pathology assistants, the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, practicing at the Top of the License and providing culturally affirming person-centered care to children living with chronic health conditions including immigrants and refugees.

Dr. McNeilly is known internationally in the speech-language pathology profession and consults with professionals in other countries to facilitate access to services; the World Health Organization; the World Rehabilitation Alliance; and the National Academy of Sciences. She is a member of the National Academies of Practice and serves on the Board of the International Association of Communication Sciences and Disorders (IALP) and chair of its Multilingual and Multicultural Affairs Committee.
